ELIZABETH ROBBERECHTS /// LEAD INVESTMENT OFFICER - IIC’S INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENERGY DIVISION
Elizabeth Robberechts is a Lead Investment Officer in the IIC’s Infrastructure and Energy Division, based in Washington, D.C. Her focus is on the origination and structuring of financings for utility-scale renewable energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. For three years, Elizabeth was based in the IDB Group’s office in Santiago, Chile, where she met with dozens of renewable energy developers and witnessed first-hand the dramatic evolution of the solar sector. She has experience in the origination and negotiation of financings for energy projects utilizing wind, PV solar, concentrated solar and geothermal technologies, with a recent emphasis on PV solar financings in Chile, Uruguay and Brazil. Since 2012, Elizabeth has participated in the financing of five PV solar projects in Latin America, including the first project financing of a PV solar project in Chile, as well as the structuring of financing for solar projects exposed to merchant risk. Elizabeth speaks Spanish and English and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cornell University.

Partho Sanyal, Managing Director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Latin America Investment Banking Group, has approx 19 years of investment and merchant banking experience at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and has worked in over 25 countries. He joined the Firm in 2001 and has spent much of his time covering the broader infrastructure sector - including power generation and distribution, water and wastewater, electric transmission, renewable energy and waste and environmental services. Since 2013, Partho assumed responsibility for covering the Utilities and Industrials sectors in Latin America.
Partho has experience with advisory, capital raising and structured finance transactions. Since 2001, Partho has been involved in over 80 capital markets transactions that have raised approximately $100 billion in capital. His experience includes the €4.5 bn IPO of Iberdrola Renovables, €1.6 bn IPO of EDP Renovaveis, €2.3 bn IPO of Enel Green Power, the $431 mm IPO of NRG Yield and the $828 mm IPO of Abengoa Yield and capital raises for CPFL Energia, Renova Energia, Ameresco, Invenergy, US Geothermal, Clean Energy Fuels, Fuel Systems Solutions, Fulcrum Bioenergy, Abengoa, TAESA, Rotoplas, Aguas Andinas, Pampa Energia, and Covanta.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch & Co., Partho spent approx. 5 years at the World Bank Group, where he focused on advising Governments around the world on privatizations of their infrastructure assets in emerging markets.

Craig currently serves as the Director of Business Development – Renewable Energy within the Project and Structured Finance Division. Craig works closely with renewable energy exporters, international customers, and project developers to create “Bankable” project structures. Craig began his career at the Bank in January 1993, as the Loan Officer for the Middle East and North Africa, was appointed as the Bank’s Environmental Liaison Officer in 1994, and also served as a Director for International Business Development from 1998-2008, where he covered the Asia Pacific and Latin America Regions. In 2008, he created the Bank’s Renewable Energy Business Development Initiative. In the 5 years since this Initiative was launched the Bank has authorized over $2 billion in support of renewable energy exports. In addition to his position at the Bank, Craig has served as an Adjunct Professor of International Business, and International Project Finance at Georgetown University since 1997.

Paul initiated his professional career with Skanska, where he contributed to developing a USD 1.5B worth of greenfield toll-roads and power plants. He joined Proparco in 2011. As head of agri-business, Paul led Proparco’s first MLA syndicated agri-transaction and completed the first (successful) exit of FISEA, a mid-cap African fund managed by Proparco. He moved to Mexico in 2014 to head Proparco’s operations in the region. Engineer by training, Paul holds a masters’ degree in public administration from SciencesPo Paris.

Sarah Chapman is the CEO and Co-Founder of Faro Energy, which sources, develops, and finances clean energy systems for commercial and industrial customers in Latin America and the Caribbean. Sarah’s experience includes renewable energy finance and global climate policy. As start-up Chief of Staff for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, she built a coalition of world leaders, global institutions and researchers to analyse and communicate the economics of climate change. At Climate Bridge, Sarah led renewable energy structured finance transactions in London, and subsequently launched Climate Bridge’s Australia business. She started her career at McKinsey & Company, and holds a BA and MMath in Mathematics from Cambridge. She was named one of the “35 under 35” top businesswomen in the UK in 2015.

  • Mr. De la Vega joined Santander in 2004 as part of the Project & Acquisition Finance team where he focused mainly on infrastructure transactions.
  • In 2008 he was made responsible for the Energy & Oil Gas team where he structured various landmark transactions in the Mexican Market.
  • Currently, Mr. De la Vega is responsible for Project & Acquisition Finance Mexico.
  • Previously, Mr. De la Vega performed in the finance area of telecommunications, for companies such as TV Azteca, Unefon and Cablevision.
  • Mr. De la Vega has a BA in Economics from the Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney, Australia, where he specialized in finance.

Strong of 17 years of experience in the energy sector I had the opportunity to work on the whole energy value chain within the ENGIE Group (from energy sales to supply including trading and gas transportation). Then, three years ago, I joined as investment manager ENGIE Rassembleurs d’Energies, ENGIE’s corporate impact venture fund, which invests in profitable, local enterprises providing B to C, sustainable and relevant energy access solutions to poor and remote populations. By the end of 2016, 5 years after its creation, the fund has achieved 18 investments on 4 continents, covering a wide scope of activities, ranging from access to electricity through solar solutions, to access to clean cooking solutions or to energy efficiency Today, in charge of Latin America, I represent the fund in Boards of Directors of two young companies engaged in the energy services to the Base of Pyramid in Mexico (home solar system for off-grid populations and biogas solutions for small farmers). Additionally, I'm in charge of measuring social and environmental impact of ENGIE Rassembleurs d'Energies' portfolio.

Michael Ott, Vice President, is a member of the North American Renewable Power Team within BlackRock's Infrastructure Investment Group. He is responsible for sourcing and executing new equity investments for the Global Renewable Power Fund platform and supporting existing renewable power portfolio investments.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2015, Mr. Ott was a member of both the equity sales and project financing teams at EDF Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Electricite de France S.A. At EDF, Mr. Ott was responsible for managing the company's sell-side relationships for utility scale wind and solar power asset sales and project financing for one the largest North American renewable power developers. Mr. Ott began his career in 2007 in structured finance and fund compliance at Sidley Austin LLP and Citadel Investment Group in New York.
Mr. Ott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, a Masters of Science in Sustainable Energy Systems from University of Michigan and a Masters of Business administration from University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.

Greg is responsible for leading Canadian Solar’s project and structured finance activities throughout Latin America. Canadian Solar has recently closed financing for the first utility scale PV Project in Brazil and will close two more project financings in Brazil and at least one in Mexico during 2017.
Greg has closed more than 20 project financings and has worked in both project finance and development roles in Latin America, Asia, Australia, India, North Africa and the US on the successful development of wind, solar, geothermal and biomass projects as well as other utility and natural gas infrastructure.
Greg holds a Masters of Science in Taxation, and a MBA from Golden Gate University.
